Programme Entry Requirements

The programmes at London Academy of Management Sciences do not normally require any prior knowledge in the subjects unless you are seeking exemptions. All students are expected to prove a reasonable level of literacy and numeracy and have an academic record. We normally require proof of English ability to a certain minimum.

Alternative qualifications to the standard are considered so if you have a qualification which is different from those below do still apply.

 

International Certificate in Business (ICB)


The qualifications required to study this programme are:
 
A proven level of secondary education.
In terms of English candidates are expected to have:
 
Previously studied English at secondary school level, OR
 
Have the required minimum result in the NCC Education Higher English Placement Test (HEPT), OR
  Have a valid score of 5.5 or above in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).


Diploma’s leading to BSc (Honours) Business Administration


Entry Requirements for year one

On entry a student must have at least one of the following:
 
At least one 'A' Level pass or an appropriate School Leaver's Certificate.
 
Vocational experience which is deemed suitable by NCC Education.
 
The NCC Education International Foundation Year (IFY) or International Certificate in Business (ICB ) or equivalent.
Applicants whose first language is not English will need: EITHER
 
The required minimum result in the NCC Education Higher English Placement Test (HEPT), OR
 
IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
International Diploma in Business (IDB)

Entry Requirements
On entry a student must have at least one of the following:

Vocational experience which is deemed suitable by NCC Education.

International Advanced Diploma in Business (IADB)

Entry Requirements
On entry a student must have at least one of the following:
 
NCC Education International Diploma in Business (IDB) qualification.
 
A local or international qualification which is deemed to be of a similar level to the IDB programme. This shall be agreed in advance with NCC Education.
Applicants who are not NCC Education graduates and whose first language is not English will need: EITHER
 
The required minimum result in the NCC Education Higher English Placement Test (HEPT) OR
 
IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
 

Entry Requirements for year two
On entry a student must have at least one of the following:
 
NCC Education International Diploma in Business (IDB) qualification.
 
A local or international qualification which is deemed to be of a similar level to the IDB programme. This shall be agreed in advance with NCC Education.
Applicants who are not NCC Education graduates and whose first language is not English will need: EITHER
 
The required minimum result in the NCC Education Higher English Placement Test (HEPT) OR
 
IELTS 5.5 or equivalent

Entry Requirements for final year
On entry a student must have at least one of the following:
 
Successful completion the Diploma in Business and the International Advanced Diploma in Business awarded by the institution. International Advanced Diploma in Business students must have achieved a median mark of 50%.
 
Other candidates considered jointly by NCC Education and the University of Wales on an exceptional, case by case, basis. In such cases written acceptance will be required from the University of Wales prior to final acceptance onto the programme.
Applicants whose first language is not English will need:
 
The required minimum result in the NCC Education Higher English Placement Test (HEPT), for years 1 and 2 OR IELTS level 5.5; and for year 3 it is mandatory to have a minimum of IELTS 6.0. To progress each year it is essential for the correct language score to be achieved.

   
Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (PgD BM)

Entry Requirements
On entry a student must have at least one of the following:
 
An honours degree from a UK university (minimum 2:2) in any subject, or equivalent award from a non-UK university, OR
 
Three years' work experience at managerial level with significant responsibility for resources (staff, financial, physical etc, or a combination of these). Prospective students must be able to demonstrate that these responsibilities were significant and that they had a high level of autonomy.
Applicants whose first language is not English will need an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent.
  Postgraduate Diploma (PgD) Business Management leading to MSc/ MBA

Entry Requirements
On entry a student must have at least one of the following:
 
An honours degree from a UK university (minimum 2:2) in any subject, or equivalent award from a non-UK university, OR
 
Three years' work experience at managerial level with significant responsibility for resources (staff, financial, physical etc, or a combination of these). Prospective students must be able to demonstrate that these responsibilities were significant and that they had a high level of autonomy.
Applicants whose first language is not English will need an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent and may need to fulfil other requirements applied by the awarding body of the Masters programme.

Students must be able to demonstrate that they have:

  Have a valid score of 5.5 or above in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

  Entry Requirements for final year
On entry a student must have at least one of the following:
 
Successful completion of Advanced Diploma in Computer Studies (IADCS) awarded by the institution. Advanced Diploma in Computer Studies students must have achieved a median mark of 50% with no mark on a single module falling below 40%.
 
Other candidates considered jointly by NCC Education and the University of Wales on an exceptional, case by case, basis. In such cases written acceptance will be required from the University of Wales prior to final acceptance onto the programme.
Applicants whose first language is not English will need:
 
The required minimum result in the NCC Education Higher English Placement Test (HEPT), for years 1 and 2 OR IELTS level 5.5; and for year 3 it is mandatory to have a minimum of IELTS 6.0. To progress each year it is essential for the correct language score to be achieved.
   
Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Business IT (PgD SBIT)

On entry a student must have at least one of the following:

Route 1 (Academic - IT Graduates)
 
UK bachelor's degree with honours (or equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science or related subject.

Route 1a (Academic - IT graduates with non-honours degrees)
 
IT graduates who hold a bachelor's ordinary or pass-level degree (or equivalent) in Information Technology or related subject with exceptionally high marks may be considered for admission, at the discretion of NCC Education.

Route 2 (Mixed - other graduates)
 
UK bachelor's degree with honours in a non-IT related subject (or equivalent) AND
  Three years' work experience in an IT environment

Route 3 (Vocational - IT professionals, mostly part-time)
 
Five years' work experience in an IT environment AND
  The ability to demonstrate suitability for academic study, via personal or telephone interview with the programme co-ordinator at the student's Accredited partner Centre.
Applicants whose first language is not English will need an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent.
 
  Postgraduate Diploma (PgD) in Strategic Business IT leading to Masters

On entry a student must have at least one of the following:

Route 1 (Academic - IT Graduates)
 
UK bachelor's degree with honours (or equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science or related subject.

Route 1a (Academic - IT graduates with non-honours degrees)
 
IT graduates who hold a bachelor's ordinary or pass-level degree (or equivalent) in Information Technology or related subject with exceptionally high marks may be considered for admission, at the discretion of NCC Education.

Diploma in Hotel Management


Entry Requirements

 
The standard requirement is a good secondary education consisting of A-Levels. In some cases we can accept qualifications equivalent to 5 very high GCSEs.
 
English Language competency at IELTS 5.5 (for overseas students)

Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management


Entry Requirements

 
The standard requirement is a good secondary education consisting of A-Levels or equivalent to A-levels. In some cases we can accept qualifications equivalent to 5 very high GCSEs.
 
English Language competency at IELTS 5.5 (for overseas students)
   
Final year of BA (Honours) Hospitality & Tourism Management

Entry Requirements

These will vary from University to University but they will largely involve having completed the Advanced Diploma fully with at least half the modules passed at 50% and above and having evidence of English level at IELTS 6.0 or equivalent
