Life
has become faster, more efficient, more accurate and
colourful, largely because of computers and the ease
of access they provide. The world of computer technology
has created a wealth of exciting career opportunities
for suitably qualified young people.
The computing field is very varied and consists of
areas such as computer programming, database construction,
network management, web development and many more.
All of these areas are essential components of any
business environment. Individuals skilled in these
areas can look forward to good careers. Many people
are under the assumption that computing is very hard
or training for these qualifications is very complex
and others in the class will know more than them.
This is not the case; all that is

required
is an interest in the subject and commitment to follow
the programmes.
Most students who begin the undergraduate computing
programme have little or no experience of computing
at all. We instil in them the core skills required
to begin a Bachelor’s degree and complete the
programme. Students usually take these skills and
apply them in a work environment or continue academia
and utilise their skills for more specialised studies.
The Computing Department is committed to success and
provides a stimulating and lively environment for
undergraduate and postgraduate students. |
