BA Tourism & Hospitality Management Final Year

This programme is not currently taught at the Academy. However students can progress to programmes with similar titles at a vast number of UK Universities. Students holding the Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management can proceed to University to complete their Bachelors degree by progressing to the final year of a suitable Tourism and Hospitality Management degree by gaining exemptions based on their diploma and advanced diploma awarded by the Confederation of Tourism & Hospitality.

Level of Qualification
The final year of the Bachelors degree is at level 6 of the National qualifications framework.

Entry Requirements
These will vary from University to University but they will largely involve having completed the Advanced Diploma fully with at least half the modules passed at 50% and above and having evidence of English level at IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

Programme Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the programme you should be able to:

 
design and execute an enquiry into a relevant topic which utilises and applies knowledge and understanding developed during the programme of study;
 
undertake a literature review and demonstrate a sound knowledge of the topic and an ability to analyse and evaluate data and concepts;
 
select and use appropriate methods of investigation;
 
present the results of the study in an appropriate, rigorous and objective form;
 
evaluate the findings and draw appropriate conclusions and make recommendations for further research in the field.
 
Demonstrate in depth critical analysis and evaluation of subject material and related methodology
 
Apply specialist knowledge to situations in the production of effective solutions.
 
Implement and manage projects effectively
 
Demonstrate in depth critical analysis and evaluation of relevant business and hospitality based theories and practice
 
Apply specialist knowledge to situations in the production of effective solutions in projects involving hospitality management
Programme Structure
The programme is taught over 12 Months and consists of two semesters of full time study plus revision time. Students will normally study 6 taught modules ana project worth two modules.

  Assessment
 
This normally comprises examination and assessments for each module, other than the project – dissertation. To complete the qualification successfully students must pass all elements.

Largely September with some January start dates

  Progression 
 
Students can proceed to MA Tourism and Hospitality Management or similar qualifications at a UK University. Alternatively students can enter employment with the secure knowledge that they have the skills necessary to perform well in a range of positions within the Hospitality Sector.
